No matter what kind of bike or ATV you are working on, sometimes it seems like the manufacturers have a secret rule that says they have to design at least one or two fasteners on every vehicle that are impossible to get to. A bolt or a screw that is tantalizingly placed just out of reach, or sandwiched between two components where there is no room to get a screwdriver or socket to.
Luckily we have the tool to take care of annoying fasteners like this. The 90-Degree Hex Driver is a gear driven tool that will drive any ¼” hex bit with a simple twist of the handle. With a short bit installed the tool's total height is approximately 18mm or ¾”, so it is able to fit into the tightest spaces. The 90 Degree Hex Driver comes with a selection of bits, including flat head and Phillips screwdriver bits, a 6mm hex and a ¼” square drive adapter. There is also a special D-Shape adapter to adjust carburettor mixture screws as used on many Honda motorcycles. Additionally, any ¼” hex drive bit will fit into the tool as well as ¼” square drive sockets so the possibilities are limitless. The 90-degree driver was developed to access and adjust hard to reach mixture screws on carburettors, but it can also install and remove fasteners with low torque applications. The tool has a 60 inch/pound (approx 6.8Nm) torque limit, so it also works great for those small, hidden fasteners.
The drive handle has a detent, so the tool can be turned in 1/16th turn detents, or 22.5 degrees per click for super-fine repeatable adjustment. The detent is also adjustable and/or removable, to create the smoothest feel. Its length of 45cm (17 ½”) gives it plenty of reach to get into tight places.
