The CV38 wheel clamp is designed to be used in conjunction with the MG lifts but can also be used with other lifts if you are prepared to drill the holes.
It can also be used in trailers or vans to good effect. Side support bars are available to enable freestanding use in a van or trailer, or for exhibitions etc. It will support wheels from 75mm to 220mm wide and will hold the bike upright - perfect for bikes without centre stands or where the side-stand allows the bike to lean over too far for safety.
Just push the bike into the wheel clamp and the clamp will automatically grab the tyre in 2 directions (front to back and side to side), automatically compensating for the width of the tyre. The bike is now supported upright.
The CV38 is not the same as similar looking clamps which are preset for a fixed width tyre - those are intended for end-users and owners of a particular bike. This is a professional clamping system intended for use in a professional environment where each bike is different. The clamp can be adjusted if you specialise in trail bikes or cruisers for example, but generally the standard range is sufficient.

I really like how strong this clamp is but was confused by the mechanism which I expected to grip the wheel 'like a warm friendly hand' but actually applies maximum grip as it passes over the top. I made some brackets and relocated the rose jointed arms behind and lower, it now does what I expected without stressing and I'm very satisfied if perhaps a little confused as to how it was supposed to work. Perhaps I got it wrong?
